Having looked through the viewfinder of his father’s camera when he was thirteen, John Freeman realised instantly, how different the world could look when selectively framed. That vision still prevails and many see it as a fantasy world that he entered into and has never left. Leaving school at fifteen in the 60’s he assisted several top London photographers. As with many people of this period the excess’s on offer took their toll but after a short interlude in the country he returned to study his enduring passion and graduated from Harrow College of Higher Education – now Westminster University – in the 80’s with a degree in photography.
John’s career has successfully led him into many different areas of photography and he has won many awards in the fields of architecture, food and the body. He is the author of over 30 books many of which are on photographic technique and have combined worldwide sales of over 1,000,000 copies. Having travelled extensively John still finds London his inspirational home.
